Yoga Skin: Look Lit From Within

What is Yoga Skin?

It’s the newest makeup trend sweeping Instagram, created by U.K.-based makeup artist Sara Hill. Don’t think of red blotchy skin after hot yoga; it’s more like the lustrous shine of an opal. Skin looks bright, hydrated, and radiant like you inner peace is shining from the inside out. You don’t even have to be an avid yogi to achieve it!

How do you get it?

Refer to this simplified step-by-step guide for this gorgeous look. It’s quick and easy, and looks good with just a little mascara or played up with a dramatic eye or lip.

Step 1

Start by applying a primer to fresh, clean skin. I like to use Hangover Primer by Too Faced. It hydrates skin with a coconut water-infused formula. After the primer dries, conceal blemishes or darkness under the eyes.

Step 2

Create your mixture in the palm of your hand. Start with a lightweight foundation that will make up half. I like to use MAC Face and Body Foundation for its consistency. Then add 3-4 drops of Iconic’s liquid Illuminator to the foundation. Next, add 2 drops of face oil like Farsali Rose Gold Elixir. If you have combiination or oily skin, skip this step. Take a spatula and scrape off a little bit of a highlight powder, like BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector. This one is a favourite beacuse it’s not glittery.

Step 3

Combine the ingredients in your hands. The warmth of your skin helps the makeup melt into your skin. Normally, you would apply with a brush or beauty blender, but not for this look. Apply with your hands. The stimulation from your fingertips increases circulation to help reduce puffiness. If you require more coverage, let this layer dry before adding another.

Step 4

Finish the look with a cream blush or bronzer. My go-to is NARS The Multiple. When choosing a color, mimic the lightly flushed look after the warmup of a good yoga class.

Adding this inner peace-inspired routine will bring your “no-makeup” makeup look to the next level or add a soft glow to your glammed up night look.
